Nick Hawkins - Managing Director

Nick is a multidisciplinary Environmental Consultant. Nick studied at UEA Norwich before gaining a Master's Degree in Environmental Science from the University of Southampton. Nick began his career working as a hydrological engineer, but soon became involved in other aspects of environmental assessment, principally noise, vibration, air quality and daylighting.

During the last ten years, Nick has worked on the environmental assessment of a variety of projects, including some large prestigious projects in the rail, highway, aviation and wind energy sectors. These projects include London's Thameslink and Crossrail rail schemes, the expansion of Dublin's Luas Line tram network, the 300m high Shard development at London Bridge, the widening of the M25 in Kent and Sussex, and the exansion of Bournemouth Airport.

Nick set up his own consultancy in 2007 and became Managing Director of Hawkins Environmental in 2010. Since then, Nick has been primarily involved in small to medium sized residential and mixed use developments, often looking at noise, air quality and daylighting issues on the same site. Recent projects include assessing the impacts of the redevelopment of Slough town centre, including 900 new dwellings and new commercial premises; the redevelopment of Rectory Park in Ealing; a 140 dwelling greenfield development adjacent to the M62 motorway in Cheshire; various care homes, wind turbines and supermarkets across the country, as well as small residential schemes and individual dwellings.

Nick's first paper was published in July 2008 at the EuroNoise Conference in Paris. Nick is a Member of the Institute of Acoustics, a Member of the Institute of Air Quality Management and a Member of the Institution of Environmental Sciences.
